The landscape is continually in transition, shifting as we condition and adapt our surroundings in response to our changing notions, fears, anxieties and ambitions. My photographs examine how we organize, live with and experience the built environment. Architecture, landscaping and lighting guide the way we move through space, influencing our activities and absorbing our gaze. Im interested in the subtle and obvious ways we segment our environment to maintain control and encourage the appearance of order and stability.
I use the view camera to frame and isolate my subjects, reflecting how the constructed world can frame and contain us. My approach is not inclined toward documentary; instead I prefer to work from a variety of perspectives allowing me to make associations between a diversity of subjects by linking fragments of information.
