The photographs in the series Contours & Detours depict a landscape in continual transition, a world caught between the debris of the industrial past and the promise of a more austere, technological future. Captured at locations along the East Coast of the US, the photos explore vast networks of infrastructure that hold together fragmented lives while creating an aura of order and purpose. The images question our connection to the places we build and inhabit. Many of the images examine areas where edges converge, the suburban with industrial, or the commercial and the natural. Tension is piqued when private property and public space intersect- vulnerability and aggression are rarely far apart.
